Securing a place
Parents moving into the district or considering sending their child to this school are invited to contact the Headteacher to arrange a visit. Children, who become five during the academic year of 1st September to 31st August, are eligible to start at the beginning of the Autumn term preceding their fifth birthday.
Parents of summer born children (those born between 1 April and 31 August only) may defer their child’s entry to school by a whole year until they reach compulsory school age and be admitted to Reception rather than Year 1 with their chronological peers. This means that a summer born child would not start school at all during the academic year after their fourth birthday. Details on the process for seeking approval for deferring a child’s admission are provided on the Gloucestershire Admissions website.
As soon as you are happy that Stone is the right school for your child, please complete a Request for Admissions Form and send it to the Headteacher.

The school currently accommodates approximately 84 children and priorities for admission are:
- Children in Public Care (Looked After Children)
- Children who will have siblings attending the school at the time the applicant child is admitted.
- Children for whom only one particular school is appropriate due to an exceptional medical condition. Applications under this criterion will only be considered if they are supported by a written statement from the child's doctor. This must demonstrate that there is a very specific connection between the medical need and the facilities or resources of the school concerned.
- Children with the strongest geographical claim, measured in a straight line from the centre of the child's home address (including flats) to the central point of the school, using the Local Authority's computerised measuring system, with those living closer to the school receiving the higher priority.
For in school year admissions the final decisions rest with the school and the parent of any child refused a place may appeal to the LA. A copy of the LA admission and appeals policy is available from school.
It has been our policy to include an acclimatization course for pre-school pupils in the summer term prior to admission. Parents and children are invited to visit the school both formally and informally before the child starts school. It is also beneficial to the reception children to commence initially on a part time basis, progressing to full time when they have settled into the school routine.
Parents of all children being enrolled will be required to complete an admission form and return it as soon as possible. In the case of children attending school for the first time, a birth certificate must be produced.
