MATHS: Daily Lessons
YEAR 5: Monday is a final look at negative numbers with the BBC.
On Tuesday and Wednesday we are using resources from Hamilton Trust. Remember that each day's work has instructions at the top of the first page for you to follow. These resources use Powerpoints and/or sheets they call "Learning Reminders" as the teaching input of the maths lesson and then there are worksheets to print out and complete. YOU DO NOT NEED TO PRINT OUT THE WHOLE DOCUMENT. There are often 2 levels of tesk to choose between - mild and hot- and extra resources you can use if you find the concept tricky. At the end of the resource pages some days they use a "Check your understanding" sheet to finish off the lesson. (This week there is a Powerpoint or Learning Reminders for Tuesday and Learning Reminders for Wednesday.)
YEAR 6: Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday this week we tackle some more algebra.
Year 6 you have your TIMES TABLE ROCK STARS account to use again this week.
SO THAT WE CAN SEE HOW YOU ARE GETTING ON, PLEASE MARK YOUR WORK USING THE ANSWER SHEET AND THEN PHOTOGRAPH IT AND SEND IT TO US USING SEESAW.
The Fluent in 5 sheets and the times table sheets are always available, if you complete the other work quickly. (Find these on the You Might Like... tab) SUMDOG is an extra to do too, for some maths and gaming time!

DAILY TASKS
MONDAY: Watch the film Road's End up to 0:45
Who is this mysterious man in goggles and a red scarf and what has happened to him? We are left to decide this for ourselves as the short film begins and he is inspecting the wreckage of a car. Today's task is to write/narrate the story so far (until the man gets into the car) from the perspective of the driver of the car who turns up and meets the mysterious man in the goggles.
TUESDAY: Watch to the end of the film
Why does the man in the goggles not speak? Why does he look at his watch? What does the driver see in the goggles? Today's task is to complete the story. Describe the silent journey along the road, the atmosphere inside the vehicle, the scene the driver sees in the googles and what then happens to the car. As the story ends, consider how you will include the new vehicle.
WEDNESDAY: Rewatch the complete film
Today you can chose the type of writing about this mysterious event and man that you do. You could write the event up as a newspaper report; describing what happened, how it related to possible previous happenings and include speculation on who the man is. OR You might prefer to write from the perspective of the man in the goggles and red scarf. How are you? Where have you come from? Could you be death, the grim reaper, but without his scythe?
THURSDAY: Download the writing booklet One Chance from below. Work your way through the warm up activities on pages 2,3 and 4. Today's main writing task is to write a poem about what you might wish for: The Mirror of Wishes. Copy the pattern of Pie's poem (on page p5) but use your own characters and ideas about what youmight wish for.
FRIDAY: Use the One Chance booklet again today, starting on p6. Read the poem, The Mirror of Despair. Try copying the pattern of this poem, but use your own characters and ideas about what they might most hate to have happen in their lives.
EXTRA WRITING TASKS: Remember, that if you are looking for some more ideas of what to write about there is this week's 100 word challenge and this week's Pobble365 pictures. Sorry to say that if you are looking for the radioblogging show, it has now come to an end; we will miss the top quality teaching from the crew there.
