MUSIC: SINGING
Use BBC Bitesize https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zkx3bdm
Learn: What are melody and pitch?
Melody is the tune. It's the part of the music that you sing along with.
Pitch is how high or low a note sounds.
A melody is made up of high and low pitched notes played one after the other. Catchy melodies often repeat the same series of notes over and over.
Singing with feeling: Singing is all about feeling. You can change the mood of a song by the way it is sung.
Some songs make you feel happy or excited, while others make you feel sad or scared.
These feelings come from how the song is composed, the instruments used and how performers play them.
Think about how your favourite songs make you feel.
Listen again to your favourite song and see if you can spot what is causing those feelings.
You might be able to use those tricks in your song.
Activity 1: What is your favourite song at the moment? Find that song and listen to it.
Can you write down or describe how it is making you feel?
Can you spot what is causing that feeling? Is it the words?
How does the singer perform?
Write down three things about the music that you think are creating that feeling.
Activity 2: Sing along to Somewhere Only We Know
Watch and singalong with this choir singing Somewhere Only We Know by Keane.
Activity 3: Try out a creative Ten Pieces activity at home. https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/ten-pieces/intro-films-and-orchestral-films/zv2gqp3
- Watch films about classical music
- Make art and crafts
- Download sheet music and sing along to famous pieces.
MUSIC BBC Bitesize Essentials. Use these resources to learn about different aspects of music.
Each topic teaches you through short video clips and questions and activities for you to complete. Try 1 or 2 each day. You could revise a topic you know about or pick something new.
iSingPOP
iSingPOP have put together a weekly show which you can watch. You sing along to the songs you already know and maybe learn some new ones. Shows 1 and 2 will have already been released when this page is published. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clbDkcl6UWo
