RE- Who is Muslim and how do they live?

Last week in our RE lesson we had begun to learn about the idea that Muslims believe in Allah as the one true God.

We also learnt about the Shahadah and how this is the most important belief for Muslims.

The Shahadah says Muhammad is God's messenger (many Muslims say 'Peace be upon him after his name- or write PBUH)

Stories of the Prophet are very important in Islam. They say alot about what the Prophet Muhammad said and did, and these stories often teach Muslims an inspiring lesson.

Watch the video which teaches us the story of the Tiny Ant and the Crying Camel.

Talk about how these stories might inspire people today. Draw a picture of one of these stories and write a sentence about what it teaches people today.

Music

Carnival of the Animals

Today the children will be learning about how insruments can represent sounds of different animals.

Ask the children to hold up the card or a toy animal when you call its name.

What sound does this animal make? Refer back to last weeks music video for help when you ask the children to think of an instrument that can be used to represent the animal.

Listen to carnival of the animals on youtube. Children come up with ideas about what animal they think they can hear being represented by an instrument and why. Do they know what the instrument is?

See sheet below for additional information about this lesson.

Please note- the music piece is 20 minutes long so it may be better spread across a couple of sessions.

ART- Carnival of the Animals

Listen once again to carnival of the animals. Children to choose their favourite representation of an animal and whilst listening to it they can draw/paint a picture of that animal.
