Our topic work this week is art. We will be focussing on op art. Op art is short for 'optical art'. The word optical is used to describe things that relate to how we see. Have you seen an optical Illusion before? Op art works in a similar way. Artists use shapes, colours and patterns in special ways to create images that look as if they are moving or blurring. We will be finding out about famous op art artists and creating op art pieces of our own.

Below you will find 9 YouTube tutorials/demonstrations to teach you how to create your own OP ART pieces. Over the week, build up your skills by watching and listening carefully, then try these pictures for yourself. Pause the video to follow step by step.

Once you have created a wide range of your own op art pictures, choose your favourite six and draw one on each face of the cube net. Once they are all drawn, fold up the net into a cube and glue in place. You could construct cubes with different themes: black and white cube, a multi-coloured cube.
