Prevent Duty Statement
Stone with Woodford C of E Primary School
We ensure that our children are protected from radicalisation and terrorist or extremist views by ensuring that a range of policies and procedures include this aim. These documents are:
- Safeguarding policy
- Acceptable behaviour of adults in school
- Guidance for visitors and volunteers
- British Values statement
Staff have all had training around the Prevent Duty and Chanel Awareness and if they have a concern regarding anything contravening British Values or that might encourage radicalisation, extremism or terrorism of any form they must report it in writing to the HT using the school’s safeguarding referral system. If it merits further action it will then be taken down the Chanel referral route or be treated as any other safeguarding issue and reported to the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub. Referrals from staff will be retained in the child’s safeguarding folder and if they don’t have one, one will be started if a referral is made.
The Chair of Governors is our Prevent Governor and will monitor referrals and processes when referrals are made.
